Ford Model T Drive from Lisbon to Lincoln
Two British pensioners and their Portuguese friend of are to drive the 2000KM in a 100 year old Model T Ford from Lisbon to Lincoln in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
Larry Riches (longstanding GCVA member), the owner of the 100 year old Model T Ford – first registered in December 1913, his friends Dimas Pestana and Richard Barrett aim to complete the journey from Lisbon and Lincoln between 21 and 31 May 2014. Larry Riches and Dimas Pestana are funding the drive and therefore all money collected will go to Prostate Cancer UK
History – The route takes in some of the major sites linking Portugal to England with the marriage of Philippa, daughter of John of Gaunt – the first Duke of Lancaster, to King Joao 1st of Portugal in 1387. This marriage cemented the alliance (The Treaty of Windsor) between the two countries that survives to this day making Portugal England’s oldest ally.
